Owl

The owl has long been associated with wisdom and knowledge. In ancient Greece, it was considered a companion of the goddess Athena and was often called the “wise one of the forest.”

In Japan, the owl is seen as a lucky bird, with wordplay meanings such as “no hardship” and “bringing good fortune.”

Among Native American cultures, owls with spread wings or wide-open eyes were carved into totem poles, symbolizing the ability to detect danger.

In ancient Egypt, owls were believed to connect with the world of the dead and were seen as protectors from death.

Because of these meanings, owl tattoos are sometimes combined with skull designs.
